TWBC Representations for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities Consultation on the Levelling-up & Regeneration Bill: Reforms to National Planning Policy

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning

Decision status: Decision Made

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

This report relates to a consultation by the Department for Levelling-Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) on the Levelling-Up Regeneration Bill: reforms to national planning policy (the National Planning Policy Framework NPPF).

Decision:

RESOLVED – That the tables of TWBC officer comments presented in Appendix A be submitted as the Borough Council’s representations to the Government consultation on the Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill: Reforms to national planning policy be approved.

Reasons for the decision:

To endorse the proposed representations to the DLUHC consultation would enable the borough to engage in the development of future planning policy, which will directly affect the work of the Local Planning Authority, and shape future plan-making and planning decisions.

Alternative options considered:

Do Nothing – This would result in the Borough Council not having an input into proposed changes to national planning policy, missing a valuable opportunity to shape future national policy, including regarding Local Plan making and planning decisions.

Submit Alternative Representations – To submit alternative representations would require additional liaison and discussion.

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:

No conflicts of interest were declared by any Member who was consulted in respect of this decision.
