RESOLVED –
REASON FOR DECISION: To help the Council meet its targets on emissions reduction, improving air quality and encouraging individuals to increase their use of sustainable transport modes.
Minutes:
Councillor Luke Everitt, Cabinet Member for Environment, Sustainability and Carbon Reduction introduced Paul Taylor, Director of Change of Communities who presented the report set out in the agenda.
Discussion and questions from Members included the following:
- Car Club membership should be encouraged. Increased membership would reduce emissions and congestion.
- Fewer cars would provide better parking for local residents.
- Better provision for public transport would also help reduce the need for car ownership.
