Relate West and Mid Kent

Description

 

Aims and Objectives of the Organisation:

Relationship counselling for couples, individuals and families in west and mid kent.  Also available is psychesexual therapy, relateen (counselling for teenagers) and family counselling.  We also offer a conduction service for separating parents wanting to minimise impact on children and numerous workshops and life skill courses.

Role and responsibility of the Council representative

eg. Observer, Trustee, Board Member, Observer

Representative of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.

What does the Organisation hope to achieve through the relationship?

To attend Executive Committee meetings and occasionally undertake/take part in certain projects (i.e. explore sponsorship opportunities).

 

To also keep Relate informed of any Council developments that maybe of relevance to us, and equally for us to keep Council informed of our developments.

How often are the meetings held, venue and time?

Four meetings a year, usually on a Monday morning in Tunbridge Wells.

What skills/experience/interests would be desirable from the Council’s representative?

An interest and understanding in the work we do.

What arrangements are in place to indemnify board members against the risk of personal liability?

Yes

Enabling people to take part in and enjoy leisure activities; promoting health and improving well-being; and encouraging social inclusion by supporting independence.

 

The purpose of our organisation is to promote health, respect and justice relationships.  Relate works for the netterment in the quality of people’s relationships including vulnerable children and the young, the elderly, people with physical or mental impairment, people affected by crime and disorder, individuals, couples and families.  We help address unaddressed conflict in relationships, which can be damaging and can lead to problems like youth offending, homelessness, vandalism and anti-social behaviour.  Our goals are to try and achieve a better environment in which to live, where there is health, respect, justice and community safety.

 

We there help address homelessness, help reduce crime and contribute to develop safer and stronger communities.
