General Purposes Committee

Purpose of committee

The functions of the General Purposes Committee fall within those prescribed by Schedule 1 of the Local Authorities (Functions and Responsibilities) (England) Regulations 2000 (as amended).

 

The following are delegated in full to the General Purposes Committee:

·         Functions relating to Health and Safety at work (Function C)

·         Functions relating to Elections (Function D) except numbers 7, 11 and 14-16

·         Functions relating to the Name and Status of areas and individuals (Function E)

·         Power to make, amend, revoke or re-enact byelaws (Function F)

·         Power to promote or oppose local or personal bills  (Function G)

·         Miscellaneous Functions (Function I) except numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 16, 30A, 31, 32, 36, 38, 39, 42, 45, 46, 47 and 48

 

The following shall be exercised by Full Council on the recommendation of the General Purposes Committee:

·         Functions relating to Elections (Function D) numbers 7, 11 and 14-16

·         Miscellaneous Functions (Function I) numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 16
