Aims and Objectives of the Organisation:

The object of the charity is to relieve poverty within the area of benefit (26 parishes in Kent). The aim of the charity is to provide regular financial and pastoral support to individuals in need. This may take the form of regular payments (the Smythe 'pension') or (more rarely) one-off crisis grants.

What does the Organisation hope to achieve through the relationship?

Appointment of Trustees
The role of the trustee is : 1) A point of contact for the charity and the pensioners 2) To relay relevant information to pensioners, the charity and the nominating body. 3) To distribute funds to persons in need (usually the elderly) within the area of benefit, four times per year.

How often are the meetings held, venue and time? |
Two meetings per year, April and October.

What skills/experience/interests would be desirable from the Council’s representative? |
Interests in welfare/pastoral support experience, particularly with older people. |
What arrangements are in place to indemnify board members against the risk of personal liability?

Trustee indemnity insurance is in place. Cover is provided for up to £2M in any one claim.
Trustees are CRB checked.
