Description

Aims and Objectives of the Organisation:

To maintain the Commons and ensure it remains free from encroachment for the benefit of the people of Tunbridge Wells.

Role and responsibility of the Council representative

eg. Observer, Trustee, Board Member, Observer

What does the Organisation hope to achieve through the relationship?

To assist in the management of the Commons.

How often are the meetings held, venue and time?

4 Meetings per year, Thursdays at 2.00pm. Occasional other meetings as required (one councillor acting as Chairman will be required for at least four additional meetings)

What skills/experience/interests would be desirable from the Council’s representative?

An interest in 'green issues' and local issues (to common).  Must be a member of a ward in the unparished area of Royal Tunbridge Wells or Rusthall.

 

The period of office is for 1 year.  The County of Kent Act 1981 states that Councillor need to be re-appointed as Conservators annually.

What arrangements are in place to indemnify board members against the risk of personal liability?

None

Any other information the Organisation wishes to add

If possible, Conservators should not sit on the Planning Committee if there are conflicts of interest.
